Discernment is key for decision making, but we can never be 100% certain we're making the right call. At some point, we just have to make the decision and trust God with the outcome.
Yeah yeah yeah!! This all struck a chord with me. Many chords in fact! I too, have worried about doing the “right thing” and been confused when something I thought was God’s will and prayed and fasted for - did not happen. I still find it confusing. But I’m doing the whole Prov 3:5-6 thing and trusting God not the situation. Trying to anyway 🙃🙏🏾
Totally relate! I’ve prayed things through and discerned moving forward, believing I was doing God’s will and then the door closed or it didn’t work out and I was left thinking huh?! Did I get that wrong? My spiritual director shared a helpful analogy — four vicars apply for the same church role, all discern God’s will, all believe it’s the right call, but only one gets the job. Does it mean the other three all discerned wrong? No, it’s just that the outcome is up to God. And for those three who it didn’t work out for, God was doing something in them in the process, preparing them for the next thing. That example has been so helpful for me in my journey with discernment.
Love this Jamie
